Lagos state makes moves to ban smoking

Lagos State National Assembly is seriously making plans to ban smoking in some restricted areas of the state.

The anti-smoking bill has scaled through the first reading at the Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday.

It contains the prohibition of smoking in designated places for connected purposes. If passed into law, the bill will restrict smokers of tobacco, or anything, which contains tobacco, or any other substance in places marked ‘No Smoking Area’.

It would also be seen as a grievous offence to smoke in the presence of under-aged kids at any given location.

This is some serious re-structuring going on in Lagos. Lol

Who is responsible for this one? Fashola again?
It’s seems like a good law since many don’t smoke but at the same time it seems unfair.

Smokers know better than to smoke where there are clear sayings prohibiting the act – Why bother formalizing it and adding extra?
The house of assembly should spend there time focusing on more important laws that will improve Education, Health care, and reduce corruption.
