Too Bad! Drogba, Eboue Faces Disciplinary Committee over Mandela

For displaying vests with tributes to Nelson Mandela, Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue may face fines from the Turkish FA. The former Chelsea legend who now plays for Galatasaray pull off his jersey – the vest he unveiled says “Thank You Madiba”.

The Ivory Coast international displayed the tribute during Galatasaray’s match against Elazigspor. Emmanuel Eboue was only a victim of “copy copy” – the former Arsenal defender joined the goal celebration with a tribute vest that says “Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela”.

The two players are due to face The Turkish FA (TFF) Professional Football Discipline Committee. This is not the first time players will be fine for not seeking prior permission before displaying tribute messages – players from Fethiyespor were recently sanctioned for displaying tribute vests hailing the founder of Modern Turkey, “GREAT ATATURK”.
