Why D’Banj’s Signing Tonto Dike under DB Records is a Bad Idea

I don’t understand the things i see in the news these days.

D’banj has shocked us by revealing that poko queen Tonto Dike is officially a member of his record label – DB Records.

I knew there was something up between these people with the way they keep taking photos together, i even wondered if they were dating. Lol

D’Banj broke the news on his Instagram page with this caption yesterday: “To my birthday mate and the Duchess of DB Records. Welcome to the LEE TEMPLE . Can’t wait for the world to see what we’ve been up to. I’m proud of u my daughter . #Pokolee #Tontolee #DBrecords”.

Before i say congrats, i just have to say this. Is this what D’Banj needs right now? And by this, i mean Tonto’s music input. The actress who automatically turned singer is still trying to find her ground in music. That’s putting it mildly. She hasn’t found her ground at all. Her infamous songs will bear me witness.

D’Banj as well is also trying so hard to stay at the top after his breakup with Don Jazzy. I’m a huge fan of the pair, but pitching these two people together in one room is just wrong. If they at least had an Olamide or Iyanya or even Yemi Alade in the label, then i can say, they’ll at least survive and dish out monstrous hits together. D’Banj is a talented entertainer and i wonder what the breakup did to him, but i know he’ll be fine soon.

Tonto Dike needed the D’Banj under Mohits and not the present D’Banj under DB Records. They both need to get their acts together first. This is not the best thing to do right now because the relationship isn’t mutual. Tonto Dikeh stands a lot to gain from D’Banj, while D’Banj might gain nothing other than negative publicity. I sincerely hope they surprise me.
