While no one is really all that surprised to hear about Kanye West going off on some sort of tangent at last night’s Grammy Awards, everyone still had a tiny cringe moment when we thought he was about to interrupt Beck‘s Album of the Year acceptance speech.
Funny enough, though, the alt-rock award winner himself wasn’t actually all that worried about West coming on stage — in fact, he was actually kind of stoked about it!
“I was just so excited he was coming up,†Beck told US Weekly during the Universal Music Group after-party. “[West] deserves to be onstage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?â€
The 44-year-old wasn’t even offended that Kanye suggested he didn’t deserve the award over Beyoncé.
“I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyoncé! … You can’t please everybody, man. I still love [West] and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.â€
However, several other celebrities weren’t as complimentary toward West’s controversial rant, taking to Twitter to share their own reactions:
Let’s go ahead and let Kanye choose who is deserving of Oscars so we can spare him the inevitable moral outrage

Hey Kanye, how much does Beyonce need before you think shes getting a fair shake out there? Just curious.

Radio Shack outlived its usefulness; starting to feel the same about Kanye.

Still have nightmares that Kanye’s gonna bust through my front door and take my damn 1995 American Comedy Award from me.

But the best reaction of the night undoubtedly goes to Bey and Jay Z:
